Here's my take on it; it shredded the cheeses very quickly, uniformly, and the equipment was quick and ready to clean up. Much easier clean up than my standard counter model! Bought two, both broke

I purchased two of these. One for personal use and one for our small youth group to make pasties to fundraise for their annual mission trips. My personal one broke right away. I was dicing potatoes and the motor froze. I cut the pieces small enough to fit in the feeder and was not forceful with it at all. The second one did the same thing. We now have two units that do not work and $400 wasted.

What a time saver!!

This was part of a Christmas gift that I just finally unpacked because of a family move. I was getting ready to hand grate over 3 pounds of cheese when I remembered I had this attachment. I hunted it down in the remaining boxes unpacked and it was so easy to set up and had 3 pounds of cheese grated in under 5 minuets. The storage box that comes with it is such a space and time saver it is so easy to get to that I use this weekly at least 2 or 3 times.

Have only used 3 times, but happy so far. Mainly bought it for the dicing feature. The fruit or vegetable needs to be fairly firm to cut in squares. I first used it on tomatoes and it just squished them. Since then I've cut potatoes and cucumbers and it worked great. Happy so far.

Bought this to make salsa for our food truck. Dices tomatoes and onions in a snap. Trying to shred cabbage, but the wettness cause it to gather in the secondary chute, so one has to clear it when you can hear the machine slow down. Overall, makes my food prep much easier. Have even diced sweet potatoes and rutabaga.

My goodness, this makes my meal prep so much easier. Whether it is for dinner or for the week's breakfast all chopping, dicing, cutting is much faster. I will say, however, getting the hang of properly sizing the cuts of vegetables, fruit, etc. that need to be put through takes some time. Too big and it won't fit. Too small and it'll get trapped between the blade and the lid and remain un-chopped. There's definitely a happy medium.

Exactly what i wanted

Though I don't use this as much as i would like to, it has been a BLESSING to use when i am able to use it. Its super easy to clean, to adjust the different cut sizes/speeds, and to store in our cabinets. I didn't realize it came with a blade storage box till i opened it and its sooo helpful keeping everything organized. My only two complaints, which may just be user error on my part are tomatoes and the food insert hole. The one time i tried dicing tomatoes with this they became mush, again thats probably more on my part than the machine. My complaint with the insert whole is that i wish it was a bit wider. I have to cut down almost everything i put in the machine, and if i dont cut it down to the right size it gets stuck. At which point the time it takes to get it out, recut it down again, i could have just cut it all by hand. However i've only ran into this problem with harder vegetables, like potatoes. I personally dont warrant those two things big enough to take away a star though!

I truly hesitated to purchase this item. I actually called 10 minutes later after buying it to cancel my order. But thank goodness it was already in process to be shipped and I even got it 2 days before expected. The person whom I was talking with was so patient with me. Infact she went through all the reviews and said just try it when it gets there you have 30 days to return no questions asked. Well I'm again thankful that I tried it. I have a huge garden and by the time I'm through one veggie I'm on another. This thing has zero use in any kitchen. The spacing is all wrong, it only turns crisp veggies into anything. Tomatoes, peppers, zucchini all get swept into the processor and never come out the other end. Spare yourself the trouble and cut your own veggies with a knife. Waste of time and money.

A real time-saver

The attachment works great, once you learn how to use it. It cuts well, and makes a certain kind of veggie prep extremely fast. The cleanup is easy. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that I don't think it really serves as a food processor. Anything involving pulverizing (like bread crumbs) or turning into a paste (like pesto) wouldn't really work with this. Instead this device is more like a mandolin + coarse chopping of a food processor, functions which it excels at. For the record, I've only been using it for about a month, so I cannot speak to the long-term performance.

I bought the food processor approx. 45 days ago and have used it a few times. My experience has been that the dicing blade works very well on bell peppers, cabbage and potatoes (both white and sweet potatoes). The julienne blade works well on carrots. I wanted purple onions shredded for salads, but both the julienne and shredding blades immediately got clogged up by the onion and just created mush. I've also used the straight blade to slice carrots and onions. In my opinion, the onion slices are too large for a salad...flavor is too strong. I love onions, but the slices come out too large (most between 1/2" and 1" wide) and the flavor in salads is too potent. Onions are my greatest challenge with this processor!

Amazing Tool - Time saver

I had to quickly prepare breakfast and leave home to drop my daughter. After waking up late there seemed no hope until I remembered KitchenAid Dicing Kit. Wow in less than 2 minutes all the vegeis were cut and I made delicious vegetable fried rice. Everyone liked the vegie cuts and they cooked well too.

Bought this attachment for my stand mixer after seeing that it had the dicing blade with it. I'm constantly cooking, and one thing I hate is chopping onions. (It looks like I cried for days afterwards!) I tried all the blades, but by far, my favourite is the dicing option. I have diced onions (the attachment is worth the price alone, if it only did that!) celery, carrots, red peppers, and even mushrooms so far. The mushrooms were a little harder to clean out of the grate part that they get pushed through, but it did come clean with a little trick I use with odd stuff for the kitchen. I buy a hard toothbrush for cleaning certain things in the kitchen, and it works great for this dicing blade as well. I did get a little orange staining from the carrots on the one part of the attachment that you put in first before the blades that is white... wish they made those parts black to hide staining, 'cause that's a pet peeve of mine. Nothing a dab of bleach then soap and water can't take care of though! I've used this attachment everyday since I got it, and I have no real complaints so far other than it staining a bit on those parts, but that's just esthetic in appearance and has nothing to do with performance. I love this attachment, but mostly the dicer. I have a standard food processor, but since I bought this one with the dicer, I use this more. Note that you cannot purée etc with this attachment though! To me, it's worth every penny.

I love all my attachments to my mixer and haven't had trouble with any others, but this one has been trouble since the first time I bought it. I bought it mainly for the dicing feature. The second time I used it there was a grinding noise. Apparently something broke inside and the blades would no longer move at all. Returned to the store since it had only been a few day and explained what happened. I avoided using the dicing feature for quite awhile. When I did, it did the exact same thing. Wrote to kitchenaid, who sent a refurbished one. They said this was odd. I've avoided using the dicing blade for fear it would happen again. Tonight, diced an onion and small carrot and this happened again. If this blade isn't functional it should not even be included and the inside of the unit, where something seems to snap internally should be made of better quality materials, especially since it is suppose to be the "professional" model.

The dicing kit works great with a lot of power. Had a few issues getting it connected correctly and customer service was very helpful and responsive. It was well worth the time it took to learn the tools and how to use them effectively. Love the power the machine has - chops and dices much better than a stand alone product.

I've had the opportunity to use the dicing, slicing and shredding functions. I was amazed how quickly and perfectly potatos are diced. Cucumbers and onions sliced cleanly. I put sharp chedder in the freezer for about 20 minutes before shredding and was very happy with the results.
